Do I need an API key?

Only if you want AI-assisted translation through your own provider account (bring your own key). LocaleDesk does not sell API keys and does not run a translation marketplace.

Do I need Xcode?

You can run LocaleDesk without Xcode. If your iOS project uses String Catalogs, Xcode 15+ is recommended on the machine that consumes the exported .xcstrings.

Does localization stay on my Mac?

Files you open stay under your control on your device unless you explicitly send them to a third-party service you configure.

How is this different from spreadsheets or editing String Catalog alone?

Spreadsheets lose structure and are easy to desync. Editing one catalog by hand does not scale across many locales. LocaleDesk keeps file structure, batch-generates missing locales, and gives you a Review table before you ship.
